Overview

The Playground division is for our youngest players (see Division Age Chart for exact birth dates). The objective of the Playground division is to provide young players and their parents with a “pressure free” introduction to soccer.  At this age, players should be exposed to soccer by playing simple, fun activities and small-sided games that require little or no practice, and a minimal time commitment.

The Playground division is conducted as a Jamboree One with One. This is a combination of two different formats that provide the best possible introduction to soccer for our youngest players.  Jamboree means that groups are formed on a weekly basis depending on how many players attend a given session.  One with One refers to the concept that each player will have a parent working with them on the field.  There are no practices for this age level. Sessions will be held Saturday mornings and led by a trained volunteer.

The success of our Playground division is heavily dependent upon parent involvement as each little player will start off relatively shy and uncomfortable. Therefore, parents should be present to encourage their little players to participate and have fun. With your support each little player will get in the "fun zone" and flying around the field in no time at all.

Dates/Times/Location

The Playground division will meet for 8 Saturday mornings starting the 2nd Saturday after Labor Day. Each session will last approximately 1 hour and take place on the soccer fields at Santa Ynez Elementary located at 3325 Pine Street, Santa Ynez  CA 93460.

Uniforms and Equipment

Each player will be provided with a jersey, shorts, and socks. In addition they will need shin guards (required).  Soccer cleats are optional at this level....sturdy athletic shoes are fine. If your child has their own ball it should be a size 3 for this level.

Uniforms will be handed out at the parent meeting and on the field just prior to the 1st soccer session.
